The Black Dahlia

Prior to reading the book, I had heard of the Black Dahlia. I knew that it involved the gruesome murder of a young woman, but i had no idea about extent of the brutality. While reading the description of the mutilated body, I felt i was in some fictionalized horror film, this couldn’t really have happened. The extremeness of Short’s murder is beyond comprehension. It’s utterly sickening, but fascinating at the same time. I’ve read several other stories about serial killers, and while it’s completely disturbing, I find it addicting. I think we as people are bewildered by the mind’s of psychopaths. For the majority of us, murder is an act that goes against every natural impulse. So, when a crime like the Black Dahlia is committed, it’s shocking.
